Lunar New Year (video)

It feels both very fitting and auspicious that my first post on the new blog is just days into the new lunar year.

Last week, we were fortunate enough to have my parents join us for the holiday. Of course, when my brother and I were kids and we all lived under one roof, celebrating together was a given. It’s been a lot harder to pull off in adulthood, what with it not being a federal holiday and how it often falls on a random weekday. Despite all of that, I’m proud to say that we’ve been able to make being together much more of a priority the past two years. We probably have our very excitable children to thank for that. You’ll see what I mean in the video below.

Last year, we were joined by my brother instead of my dad, and you can find that home video here. Having Bowen in Atlanta then felt extra special since COVID got in the way of our Christmas plans the month prior. No Uncle Bowen this year, but we had a nice long visit with him last month, so it was a good trade.

For next year, there’s a good chance my mom will need to spend the holiday in China, so I made sure to really soak it all in.

Happy Year of the Rabbit!
