My Mom Uniform

I feel very silly even sharing this, but if there’s one thing I’ve figured out as a newly minted mom of three little kids, it’s how to dress comfortably to run after them. Spoiler alert: it’s a steady rotation of sweatshirts and leggings. While that isn’t much of a revelation and I can already see the “No one:” memes in my head, what I can offer are a few specific items that I’ve really come to love and turn to daily. Since being a mama is my one and only job at the moment, you might notice a theme.

  1. Clare V “Liberté, Egalité, Maternité ” Sweatshirt - One of my most basic and toxic traits is that I’m such a sucker for anything in French. The fact that this sweatshirt is also a clever nod to the Three Musketeers (taking the frenchness up several notches), and that proceeds go to Every Mother Counts, made it very easy for me to ignore the higher price tag.

  2. Retro Mama in a Row Sweatshirt - I got this one in white and just love the retro look of it. We’re going to Nashville next weekend and I think this one will fit in nicely there. It feels very country to me. Also, “Mama mama mama mama mama” might as well be the soundtrack of my life right now.

  3. Lululemon Belt Bag - I’m going to throw a party the day that I can finally retire our diaper bag. Until then, this little belt bag acts as the antidote to that big monstrosity whenever I’m running a quick errand. Inside, I keep the usual essentials, including AirPods and these organic lollipops for bribing the kids when out in public.

  4. Lululemon Align Leggings with Pockets - If you don’t already own a pair of lulu Align leggings, you aren’t living. Yes, they’re pricey, but they really are the best and this specific line is so buttery soft and comfortable. To really make the investment worth your while, get the pocketed version.

  5. Favorite Daughter “Mom of the Year” Sweatshirt - Sisters @erinfoster and @sarafoster are fun follows on Instagram. Everything from their clothing brand Favorite Daughter looks amazing, but most of it doesn’t really suit where I am in this season of life. This sweatshirt was right up my alley though and I wear it all the time.

  6. “MAMA” Sweatshirt - I just really love this one. The simple colors, collegiate text and incredibly soft interior make it pretty perfect in my eyes.

  7. HOKA Clifton 8 Sneakers - I love the look and feel of these, but most of all, I love how easily I can step right into them. While these are very much lace-up shoes, the backs are really sturdy yet smooth, and hold their shape as my feet glide right in for the thousandth time. For me, this is the main selling point, but I realize others are probably not as consumed with how easily a shoe will help them get out the door with kids.

Honorable mention goes to my dear companion the Starbucks matcha latte (hot or iced) with soy milk. I order this so much that it might as well be part of my uniform. I love you.

Not pictured: This is the newest addition to my sweatshirt collection. It’s not a mom sweatshirt per se, but I will be wearing it this Sunday and expect it will be on heavy rotation again in the fall.

Alright, that’s enough of this. Thank you for indulging me. If this post helps even one other mom discover a new favorite item, this will not have been in vain and the embarrassment will be worth it. Let your mom flag fly, ladies!
